What makes this project hard is that there are two required elements that have to be worked in together. Twelve tone music and art interpreting. My art piece was picture of the Notorious B.I.G. as they called him, or Biggie Smalls. He's wearing a much deserved crown and is painted all in blue. I wanted my piece to end sort of abruptly because that's how his life ended. It's interesting that his albums had titles like Ready to Die, and Life After Death, like he knew what was coming. my piece doesn't sound much like a rap, but I chose to make it sound all acapella to sound like a choir, or something, at his funeral.

The twelve tone music at first seems very limited and difficult to use, but it offers a lot that i would not have otherwise thought of. All i needed was one simple melody, and there were a bunch of ways to repeat it without actually repeating it. I like the way the inversion contrasts the original, and once you have that, you have twelve ways to transpose it. my song is a little repetitive, but it would be more so without the tone row.

you may not be able to listen to my song and pick out the art piece its based on, but it's the thought that counts.
