Diatonic Melody Project
Written Analysis
First the piece starts off with a gentle synth, almost psychedelic, just moving up and down the keys on the keyboard and starting the piece with an A section. Then as the next part of the song comes in, the intro gives way to another synth, called nordlead, and it sets the pace for basically the piece, and eventually, the drums join the piece. First it is just bass at a steady pace, then it becomes a more developed rhythm with a snare, making a B section in the piece. After a bit, the nordlead track stops playing, leaving the drums solo. After three measures of only drums, the melody comes in, a very fast paced track that we used step sequencer to produce, instead of using regular midi recording like we had for the rest of the piece. After a while of the melody alone, the drum line comes back in, along with a very soft, very quiet bass line. Then the bass line is soloed and that is the end of the piece.
Throughout the piece, we used the soft synths session drummer and z3ta+ to perform the melody, bass line, and drum line. The soft synth z3ta+ has various techno- like sounds, that are integrated with a midi track to create almost anything you like. This is more of a chill song, like what you would listen when you are relaxing or just hanging out with friends.
This is a peice that me and brian made. it is with a speech that a veteran from iraq made on his return home. we could call it a motivational song, or peice, but we really just banged this one out in a day or two..enjoi:

Visual Music Project_
One of the first things that wer noticed about this piece was that the artist integrated a sort of Red Hue that gives it this warm texrture. As apposed to a blue hue, we gave our song a happy rhythm, but at the same time the subject in this painting is clearly not entirely happy, so we left the music sort of mysterious, or "out there." What i saw in this picture is a happy memory or event, followed by a very unhappy event. We built up the happy feeling, then added in a short more mellow melody, to display the not so happy memory. Another thing i saw in this man's face was a sense of tention. it looks almowst as if his anxiety is building up because he wants to open up the present, yet it isnt entirely clear that the present was even for him, it could be that he tried giving the present to someone else, yet they denied it and that is why he has that blank expression on his face, and the present sitting on the table in the next room.

i enjoyed the piece it had a very space age feel to it. Perhaps there could've been more instrumentation, and the beat could use a tweak or two through out the song
