Duck Tales Moon Theme (Remastered)
This song was originally the theme to the Ducktales Moon Level in the original 1989 game of Ducktales. I thought that it sounded awesome so I simply recorded what I heard from it, on youtube, with the original 8Bit version and turned it into a song with all Dimension Pro. The song flows completely with a tempo of exactly 38.00 BPM, at first I was sure it would have broken 50 BPM mark, but when I used the tap to tempo, Sonar was most likely sure it was 38 BPM, this was a strenuous process that took days after I had recorded most of the song. The reason this took so long was due to the fact that everywhere online there was info on the song being 60-70 BPM. My growth from this song demonstrated that I don't need a step sequencer to build music, which was the main thing I used for a while.
II. Massive Transforming Saw (In Collaboration with James Cerone)
This song was made by me and James Cerone in literally one take, there was nothing that was virtually changed after. The whole song was made using Dimension Pro "String" synths, and the whole song was pieced from these themes: Mass Effect, Saw, Halo, Transformers. I was absolutely astonished by how little time we put into this, and how well it was able to come out, (which I thought was going to be a complete failure). My favorite thing about the piece is how well chords we used flow together and all sound alike (unlike the actual songs made by there respectable artists). This song helped me grow into realizing that not everything is going to be perfect in your piece, and unless you want to spend a whole class period spotting out the little problems, you can take what you grew from and turn it into another piece. I would like to thank James Cerone, for helping and doing alot in this master piece, and also the amazing artist who made these songs and inspired us.
III. Halo Theme (Remixed from Michael Salvatori and Martin O'Donnell)
This song was used in the title screen for the very popular and widely acclaimed video game "Halo 3". I chose to redo this piece and change it up, because of how great I loved the piece in the video game which I have played for about 2 years now. The piece I was able to make consists of really 3 parts, the beggining is a slow start to the chorus which repeats itself for a dramatic effect about 6 times, and then the ending which adds to the second part coming back strong, and really sending a motivating tone of the song, I really like the song and how well this came out because the new Halo 4 is coming out in November 2012, and I cant wait to hear the soundtrack on it, and compare it to how mine sounds different. I grew from this piece by realizing that the melody of most music can follow through any parts of it, including the intro of the song, and the outro.
IV. 9/11 Tribute (Featured in Spring Concert)
This is my favorite piece that I have made this year, there are many reasons why. One of the reasons is the fact that I was originally watching a 9/11 Tribute video online, and I heard a song made by Craig Armstrong in this video, and was motivated to make a piece like it, I honestly fell in love after, it was one of the most moving pieces I have ever heard, and honestly I don't see why someone couldn't say it isn't. I made this piece from using Dimension Pro, and Cakewalk TTS for the harp, and honestly thought the harp synth could have been a little bit better but otherwise it was really good. The only .wav file I used in this piece was a quick little bell at the beginning , this was from the 'World Sounds' Collection that was ripped in the Music Tech Library by Mr. Ditomaso. I grew a little from this piece by reviewing the World Trade Center footage, before it was attacked, I had never initially intended to make a 9/11 tribute but once I heard Craig Armstrong's I knew I had to make something similar, and to pay my respect for people that lost their lives that day.
V. Express Yourself (Megamix)
This was a piece that me and James Cerone, worked on at the beginning of the year, I had never initially wanted to do anyrthing with this piece but I realized that it was the first thing we had both ever composed at the beginning of my sophomore and wanted to save this as some kind of relic, I also enjoyed the fun mixing of it tat we both used by starting off using N.W.A's "Express Yourself" and then Charles Wright's version. At the end of the song we both realized we wanted to add a little bit more, this is when we added an Acapella of Snoop Dogg, and Montell Jordan. I honestly thought that it could have come out a lot better but, the time kind of ran out as we were making it. Which led to some problems, but otherwise the tempo was really hard to figure out of the Charles Wright version.
